Born on November 3, 1944, in Elk City, Oklahoma, William’s journey was marked by service, passion, and deep commitment to those he loved.

William’s life was defined by a remarkable sense of duty and adventure. He served honorably in the United States Army, a testament to his dedication to his country. After his military service, he took on the role of deputy sheriff, serving his community with integrity and care. For over 23 years, William embraced the open road as a cross-country semi-truck driver, demonstrating resilience and an unwavering work ethic. His career later transitioned to patient transport at the VA hospital, where he continued to serve veterans and make a difference until his well-earned retirement.

Beyond his professional life, William was known for his hearty love of the outdoors and the joys it brought him. Fishing, hunting, and hot rods were not just hobbies but expressions of his vibrant spirit and zest for life. Yet, central to all his passions was his dedication to his beloved wife and family. His loyalty and kindness shaped the lives around him in profound ways.

William is lovingly survived by his sons John Winburn and Jerry Winburn, and his daughters Sonora Jumper and Mary Corbin, who carry forward his legacy of strength and love. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren who will remember their grandfather's gentle guidance and spirited tales. His surviving siblings, brother Mike Winburn and sister Tammy Smith, remain pillars of love and support.

He was preceded in death by those who now rest alongside him in memory: his cherished wife, Barbara Winburn; his brothers Pat Winburn and Sonny Winburn; his sister Sherry Orgain; and his beloved parents, George Winburn and Billie Anderson. Their memories form a sacred tapestry that will forever be woven into the fabric of William’s story.

A memorial service to honor William's life will be held on April 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Chapel at Oklahoma City Cremation, located at 807 W Wilshire Boulevard, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Friends and family are invited to gather to remember a man whose heart was as vast as the open skies he so loved.
