William Giddens

William Giddens affectionately known as J.D., age 64, was called home to eternal rest on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 in Oklahoma City. He was born on November 03, 1955 to Cleophus Giddens in Waco, TX and raised by his loving aunt and uncle Willie and Lottie Giddens in Idabel, Oklahoma.

William grew up in Idabel, Oklahoma and graduated from Gray High School, class 1974. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977 and was stationed at Fort Sill, OK. In 1978 he met and married Gloria Lewis and to this union, one child was born, April D. Giddens. After relocating to Oklahoma City, William worked at Dayton Tire and also worked as a cosmetologist in his home salon. He later moved to California and there he worked for the Disabled Veterans. He liked dogs, watching basketball, football, baseball. He loved everything about the OU Sooners.

William was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Elma Giddens Smith, Burnett Rhynes, and Annie Asare.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, April Giddens-King and son-in-law, Corey King of Oklahoma City. Granddaughters, Ahloria Onaolapo, Essence King, and Zandria King, all of Oklahoma City. Brothers, James Giddens, Charles Giddens, Dennis (Karla) Giddens, and Michael Giddens, all of Oklahoma City. Clemmie ( Frankie) Giddens and Martin Giddens, both of Idabel. Donald (Maude) Giddens of Valliant, Willie B. Giddens of Broken Bow, and Wash (Regina) Giddens of San Diego, CA. Sisters, America Giddens and Sharon Giddens of California. Esther (Richard) Johnson, Velma Moseley, Zelma Polk, and Dorothy Giddens, all of Oklahoma City; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Interment will take place December 19, 2019 @ 1:00pm at Ft. Sill National Cemetery.
