William Dean Howell, affectionately known as Billy, passed away on May 26, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 64. After facing various complications following back surgery, he peacefully departed from this world.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Veda Howell, his daughter Dr. Jennifer Rousseau, and her family, including a caring son-in-law and two adoring grandsons. He is also survived by his sister, Wynona Byrom, and her family, consisting of a supportive brother-in-law, three children, and their families. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous aunts, cousins, and dear friends. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Born on May 9, 1959 in Antioch, CA, Billy spent his early childhood in California until the family relocated to Del City, OK when he was 8 years old. After graduating from Del City High School in 1978, he joined the Army and embarked on a journey that led him to Fort Jackson, SC for basic training. It was there that he met his future wife, Veda. Serving in the 7th Calvary of the 17th Air Combat Brigade, he was stationed at Fort Hood, TX.

Following his military service, Billy established a home in the Dallas Fort Worth, TX area. He pursued his passion for Funeral Sciences and graduated with an Associates Degree from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He worked diligently as a Funeral Director and Embalmer, eventually assuming the role of Funeral Home Manager across multiple locations in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Later, he transitioned into the automotive industry, where he excelled as a General Manager overseeing several Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury dealerships in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Billy’s dedication to his work was evident throughout his career.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Billy’s greatest joy in life came from being a devoted family man. He cherished his roles as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Renowned for his social nature and active involvement in his communities, he committed himself to numerous organizations in Texas and Oklahoma. Billy’s early involvement as an Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts shaped his lifelong commitment to community service. He also held memberships in the Fort Worth Scottish Rite Mason, achieving the distinguished 32nd degree. Additionally, he was a charter member of the Mystic Wheels Unit Moslah Shrine Temple.

During his leisure time, Billy indulged in his passions for fishing, hunting, shooting, hobbies, and gardening. He found solace and entertainment in Western movies and the soothing sounds of country music. His charm, quick wit, intriguing sayings, and occasional mischievousness will forever be treasured by his family and friends.

A cremation and Community Celebration of Billy’s life will take place on June 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel at Oklahoma City Cremation, located at 807 W. Wilshire Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Leading the prayer and delivering the eulogy will be his brother-in-law, Michael Byrom.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to organizations close to Billy’s heart, such as the Boy Scouts of America, Masonic Organizations, the Lupus Foundation, or any charitable organization of your choosing. These contributions will honor Billy’s legacy of compassion and support for causes that make a positive impact on people’s lives.
