Tomoko Suzuki Mayo, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 89 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Born on March 3, 1937, in Japan, Tomoko's life was a testament to courage, resilience, and determination. After marrying the love of her life, Harold Mayo, she left her homeland and moved to the United States to begin a new chapter. Through hard work and perseverance, she learned the English language, embraced her new country, and proudly became a United States citizen. Her journey reflected the strength and independence that would define her throughout her life.

Tomoko worked in hospitality and devoted herself to her family as a homemaker. She was a woman of faith who loved attending church and found great comfort, purpose, and joy in her relationship with God and her Japanese church community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mayo, and her daughter, Linda Pierce. She is survived by her son, Larry Mayo; her grandchildren, Cody Pierce and Jessica Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Teagan Smith and Carter Smith.

Tomoko found joy in life's simple pleasures-shopping, spending time with family, and making memories with those she loved most. Her greatest happiness came from her great-grandchildren. She often said they were responsible for "keeping her young,” and their presence brought endless laughter and purpose to her life. Those who knew Tomoko will remember her as feisty, spirited, and full of life. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply enjoying the company of family, she brought energy and personality wherever she went.

Tomoko's legacy is one of love, faith, perseverance, and family. She overcame challenges with grace, built a life in a new country, and created a loving family whose lives will forever be shaped by her example. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
