Shawn was a gentle soul, so kind, caring, and so very, very loved. You often hear people described as someone who would “give you the shirt off their back.”

There is no better way to describe Shawn than that statement.

He literally would give you the shirt off his back, and he has. He always tried his best to be there for his family and friends. He’d be the first one to give you a hug, a kind word, or a sarcastic remark. You always knew how Shawn felt about you. He would tell you daily that he loved you, but he’d also joke with you to make you laugh. He loved to bullshit with you just because he could.

Shawn loved fishing, whether it was with a fishing pole in rivers or lakes, out on a boat deep-sea fishing, or heading to the rivers to magnet fish for hidden treasures.

During his time as an over-the-road truck driver, he loved seeing different sights. But his true passion was playing video games. He made many friends through different games and had dreams of starting his own YouTube channel.

The list of reasons why Shawn was such an amazing person is never-ending.

To know him was a privilege. To love him was a gift.

He wasn’t perfect, no one is, but he tried his best to be kind to everyone. Losing him has left a gaping black hole in our hearts and souls that will never be filled.

Our family will be celebrating Shawn’s life on Saturday, April 25th, from 2–5 pm. Please consider joining our family as we share love and memories of a man who showed everyone he cared in all the ways that mattered most.

Shawn is survived by his father, Michael Lee Simpson (Jessica Roberts), as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Shawn is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Margaret Fothergill; his fraternal grandfather, Larry Simpson; his fraternal grandmother, Linda Wynn; his maternal grandfather, Roy Fothergill; and his maternal grandmother, Alison (Metzgar) Fothergill.
