Ronald Wesley Atchley

Ronald Wesley Atchley completed life in this world July 29, 2017.

He was born in  Pryor, Oklahoma to George Wesley & Maxine Parker Atchley, June 9, 1945.  Ron graduated from Lafayette (LA) High School in 1963 and received a petroleum engineering degree from Louisiana State University. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He married Jane Kelly Aiken in 1967. They raised two children, Andrea  Jane Atchley (Deeds) of Yukon, Oklahoma & Ronald Wesley Atchley Jr. of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Ronald Wesley Atchley’s life work was in the oil & gas industry.  He worked for Conoco & Earlsboro Oil & Gas in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He later started his own company, Atchley Resources, Inc.

He served as Captain in the United States Air Force  where he was a T-38 jet instructor pilot. He remained  in theUnited States Air Force Reserve for 6 yrs. as a C-130 pilot.

Ron flew his own airplane for several years and enjoyed building and flying RC models. He was an avid golfer and member of Twin Hills Golf & Country Club and also served on their board.   He was a member of the Oklahoma Energy Producers Alliance, was on the Board of Commerce Bank and served as a deacon of the Presbyterian Church.  Ron was a generous man and donated to many different charities.

Parents & Grandparents of Ron are deceased in addition to his sister, Carolyn Atchley Bohn.

Survivors include Ron’s wife, Kathy Atchley, of the home, (whom Ron married in 2006), daughter Andrea Deeds & husband Mark,  Ron Jr. & wife Danielle, grandchildren: Derek, Dylan & Kylie Deeds, & Jackson Atchley. Others are:  Stepdaughter April McAnally & husband Chass & stepson Charles Smith, Jane A. Blincow- former wife, aunts, an uncle, nieces,  & cousins.

On Saturday, August 5th, a gathering to celebrate Ron’s life will be  held at Twin Hills Golf & Country Club, 3401 NE 36th Street, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1:00-2:30 pm.  A private family service will be held afterwards.
