- Robert “Bob” L. Tornquist May 23, 1940 – November 14, 2025 Robert “Bob” L. Tornquist was born on
- May 23, 1940, in Great Falls, Montana. He grew up among Montana’s mountains, rivers, and
- wide-open landscapes, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors, fishing in the Missouri River
- and exploring the natural beauty that surrounded him. Bob was the son of Edward and Florence
- Tornquist, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patty
- Black; his brother, David; and his daughter, Lori Coggins. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61
- years, Flora Tornquist; his son, Edward; his brother, Jerry Tornquist; his son-in-law, Robert Coggins;
- and his grandchildren: Sara Woods, Angelica Woods, Rose Tornquist, and Cameron Tornquist, along
- with Cameron’s wife, Gabby Tornquist. Bob is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews,
- and extended family members who cherished him deeply. As a young man pursuing his calling to
- ministry, Bob attended and graduated from Warner Pacific Bible College in Portland, Oregon, where he
- prepared for a lifetime of spiritual leadership. He later became an ordained minister of the Church of
- God (Anderson, Indiana), affirming his dedication to serving Christ and His People. While drafted into
- the United States Army and stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma, Bob met the love of his life,
- Flora. Their connection grew quickly, and in 1964, they were married, beginning a life marked by deep
- love, faith, and unwavering devotion. Their union brought two children, Lori and Eddie, who were the
- joy of their lives. Bob’s ministry carried him to congregations across the United States, serving
- churches in Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Alabama, Montana, the Chicago area,
- and Alaska, returning to Alaska several times. Alaska held a special place in his heart—not only for the
- remarkable growth he witnessed within the church, but also for its breathtaking natural beauty. As a
- family, Bob, Flora, Lori, and Eddie traveled extensively together, enjoying countless road trips, camping
- adventures, mountain climbs, and even traveling to Europe. Bob brought joy and laughter to every
- journey, often singing silly songs on long drives—memories the family treasures dearly. In his later
- years, Bob became legally blind. Despite this challenge, he never lost his faith or perseverance. In
- 2019, while living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he received a guide dog named Quantum through
- Guide Dogs for the Blind. Quantum quickly became Bob’s loyal companion—his helper, his eyes, and
- his buddy who gave him renewed independence and joy. Bob proudly served his country in the United
- States Army as a specialist in the nuclear artillery field. His dedication to serving others continued long
- after his military service. For more than 50 years, Bob faithfully ministered the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- He pastored, mentored, counseled, and uplifted countless individuals with compassion, sincerity, and
- unwavering faith. He also participated in mission trips to Brazil and Africa, continuing his lifelong calling
- to share the hope and love of Christ with people around the world. Bob passed away on November 14,
- 2025, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His life was a shining example of
- faith, humility, devotion, and love. His legacy lives on in the many people he inspired, supported, and
- guided throughout his ministry. Memorial and Celebration of Life: Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at 10:30
