Rita E.

Rita Colleen Eaton (née Laffoon), 66, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on September 28, 2026, with her family by her side.

She was born July 24, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to William and Edith Laffoon. She graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1978 and attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. She married Timothy Eaton in 1982 in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they adopted and raised two children, Addison and Eli, and mentored and counseled countless others.

As a stay-at-home mother, she volunteered her time at the Hope Pregnancy Center and her local church. Later in life, she served as a housemother at the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill, Oklahoma.

She loved baking, decorating for Christmas, hosting family gatherings, flamingos, and Shark Week. Her nieces and nephews were some of her greatest joys.

Rita is survived by her husband, Tim; her sisters, Gina Hull and Linda Minear; her children, Addison Eaton Degginger and Eli Eaton; her son-in-law, Jeff Degginger; her grandchildren, Arlandria and Mariposa Degginger; her grand-pup, Shasta; and her grand-cat, Donut.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edith Laffoon; her brother, Kenny Laffoon; an unborn child; and an unborn grandchild.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, at Village Bible Church in Oklahoma City. If inclined, donations may be made in her memory to the Hope Pregnancy Center or the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children.
