Phillip Eugene Roberts, 78, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 18th, surrounded by his loving daughters.
Born on January 4, 1947, in Storm Lake, Iowa, Phillip was the child of the late Joseph Earl and Norma Jean “Bonnie” Roberts. After High School, he enlisted in the US Navy, where he served four years, becoming a proud Vietnam Veteran. After discharging from the Navy, he returned to Rolla, Missouri, where he worked as a Cartographer with the United States Geological Survey for 30 years before retiring.
While in Rolla, Phillip met his first love, Paula Sue Roberts (Green). They married on May 1, 1977, and from this union, they had two daughters. Paula departed from this earthly world on January 15, 2000.
Phillip met his second love, Sondra Roberts (Hayes), in Edmond, Oklahoma. They married on October 11, 2003, and spent 22 years together, enjoying adventures late in life and fellowshipping with their Memorial Road church family.
"Lives of great men all remind us we can make our lives sublime, and, departing, leave behind us footprints on the sands of time." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Phillip was truly a one-of-a-kind, great man who had a servant heart. He left an impact on anyone he encountered in his fulfilling life. May those footprints be everlasting and followed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Phillip was preceded in death by a brother (William Earl), a sister (Carol Jean), and his first wife (Paula Sue).
He is survived by his wife (Sondra) of Edmond, OK; daughters Penny Davis (Jacob) of Jones, OK and Pepper Harper (Jim) of Kansas City, KS; step-daughters Holly Arter (Jimmy) and Jill Nichols (Brent) both of Edmond, OK; and nine beloved grandchildren (Samantha, Odelia, Max, Jane, Titus, Morgan, Jack, Josephine and Juniper).
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 11th at 2:00 PM at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a dessert reception immediately following.
The family appreciates your expressions of sympathy and kindly requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made to Little Prairie Bible Camp. Little Prairie will always hold a special place in the Roberts’ family's Heart. Many summers were spent there camping, cooking, volunteering, and praising God.
