Linda Helen Burton

Linda Burton, of The Village, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on July 9, 2026.

Linda will be remembered for her unwavering love, spirited nature, and a life lived with purpose, determination, and compassion. Strong, courageous, and ahead of her time, she dedicated herself to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

More than four decades ago, Linda helped create a program designed to assist women in locating absent fathers who owed child support. Her vision and commitment empowered countless families, and the program continues to serve women and children to this day—an enduring testament to her legacy.

Professionally, Linda was a gifted information technology specialist. She possessed an extraordinary ability to solve even the most complex technical challenges, earning the admiration and respect of colleagues who often considered her the person who could fix anything.Above all, Linda treasured those she loved. 

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Jennifer Burton of New York City; her sister, Beverly Scribner of Arlington, Virginia; and her nephew, John Scribner of Arlington, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Vista Kinnear and James Howard Kinnear, as well as her cherished four-legged companions, Wolfie, Athena, and Ariel, who brought her immeasurable joy throughout their lives.

Linda's strength, intelligence, generosity, and determination will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the barriers she helped break, and the love she so freely gave.
