Obituary

Krista June (Kelley) Weldon was born December 19th, 1971, to Clint Kelley and Lenna Clayton in Denison, Texas. She would be raised by Hameed Atashi and Lenna, although remaining close to Clint, Krista would always say Hameed was her Dad and in later years, she would spend as much time as possible with him, always enjoying their conversations and time together. Growing up, she loved playing outside with her 4 siblings and a few close cousins, as well as listening to music with her best friend Hannah. She loved art and was very good at it; she could draw perfect portraits, from memory, and they were always amazing and full of detail. She also loved sports, music, and being a wild child. She would leave PC West High School before graduating, but would later receive her GED and go on to complete 2 years at Platt College and receive her RMA.

In 1990, Krista married and was blessed with her 1st child, Lindsey Jade. Although her 1st marriage would end a few years later, it would lead her to meet Steven Weldon, the love of her life, she said, who was her soulmate and husband for the rest of her years on this earth. They would marry in 1996 when she lovingly embraced her role as stepmom to her sons Corey and Kyle, as well as give birth to a beautiful boy named Brandon in 1997. She was a woman of God who spent many years working in private doctors' offices where she was deeply valued and loved for her kindness, compassion, and genuine care for everyone she encountered. While raising her family, she would also care for her Papa until his passing in 2007. She would go on to become a Mema in 2009 for the 1st time, and that would be a role that she loved and cherished very much. She could always be heard in her room talking with each one of them, making silly sounds and faces, or sitting in her oldest granddaughter's room, asking all the questions about her day and the juicy gossip. She also would commit to taking care of her mother-in-law with love and compassion and move to Tulsa until her passing in 2024. In 2025, she would finally move back to OKC to move in with her daughter and son-in-law, so someone could finally take care of her. She would remain there until her passing shortly after.

Krista passed away on January 18th, 2026, in the ICU with her family, who she loved most, right by her side until the very last breath. She was loved in life and will be dearly missed in death. We were not ready for her to receive her wings yet if anyone deserves to be in the arms of Jesus, Krista does. She was a loving, kind, God-fearing woman who never stopped sharing her love for God with anyone who would listen. She is survived by her husband Steven Weldon, her daughter Lindsey and son-in-law Jesse, her son Brandon and daughter-in-law Carter, and son Corey. As well as 4 grandchildren, Maggie, Jayden, Theo, and Tom, as well as her father Hameed, brother Alex, sisters Amy and Ashley, and brother-in-law Dorman. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will all miss her dearly. She is preceded in death and will receive her wings from her Momma Lenna, her Dad Clint, her sissy Jennifer, her son Kyle, her best friend Hannah, and her favorite animal babies Rusty, Able, Abby, Tiger, Missy, and Clyde. We pray they are all together and waiting until we see each other again on the other side.
