Jean Delores Arfsten November 3, 1938 – June 14, 2025
With hearts both heavy and grateful, we announce the passing of Jean Arfsten, 86, of Oklahoma City, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 14, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. While she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched, and we rejoice in knowing she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Jean Delores Langenberger was born in Ramsey, Minnesota, on November 3, 1938, to Joseph and Florence Langenberger. She graduated high school in 1956, and soon after, she married her beloved husband, Gordon Charles Arfsten, at Peace Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, on December 28, 1957. Their Christmas wedding marked the beginning of 64 beautiful years of devotion, faith, and love.
A dedicated homemaker and skilled seamstress, Jean later found purpose working in the insurance industry in Oklahoma City until her retirement in 1999. Together, she and Gordon embarked on new adventures, living in Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Burneyville, Oklahoma, before settling back in the Oklahoma City area.
Jean's retirement years were filled with joyful moments—playing cards with friends, golfing alongside Gordy, and serving others through her volunteer work at the local hospital. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life: classic movies like The Sound of Music, the humor of Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball, and the thrill of game shows. She and Gordon shared a passion for travel, with cherished memories of their 30th-anniversary trip to Hawaii and their 50th-anniversary cruise to Alaska.
Above all, Jean was a woman of unwavering faith, love, and generosity. She poured her heart into her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and warmth. Her famous cookies, made with love, will forever be a sweet reminder of the comfort she brought to those around her.
Jean once said, “I have had a good life both when I was growing up in Lauderdale, Minnesota, and now in my years of marriage. I have a wonderful husband, great children and grandchildren, and am thankful to God for His many blessings.”
She is survived by her three children: Sandra (Howard) Beaver of Oklahoma City, Debra Arfsten of Addison, Illinois, and Bruce Arfsten of Addison, Texas. Her three granddaughters: Kristin (Jimmy) Duggins of Owasso, OK, Kathy Beaver of Yukon, OK, and Kimberly (Jacob) Waterman of Piedmont, OK. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Blake (and Taylor), Benjamin, Blair, Kalea, Khloe, James, and Mason.
Jean was welcomed into Heaven by her loving husband, Gordon, and her brothers, Bud (Charles) and Joe Langenberger.
While we grieve her passing, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Christ and find comfort in knowing that Jean has been called home. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
