Janet Rosalie Carroll (Ketcham)

Janet Rosalie (Ketcham) Carroll passed away May 1, 2018 in Oklahoma City. She was born June 14, 1939 in the village of Wayland, NY. Originally born Rosland Marlene Scalla, she became the beloved daughter of Howard A. Ketcham and Marjorie I. (Reed) Ketcham.

Known as Jan by her friends and family and as “my feisty little sister” by her older sister, she was raised on a farm in Upstate New York. She was a mother, a wife, a nurse, and a light of kindness. She was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Registered Nurse during her five-plus years of service.

Supporting her husband’s many employment moves, she worked as a RN for many hospitals and nursing homes. She would end her nursing career by moving into retail sales, including Woolco, Woolworths, and ending with 22 years at Walmart, Store 622.

Jan loved gardening, animals, and her books and music. She loved to get to work early in order to chat with her co-workers. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and watching the Texas Rangers and her favorite OKC Thunder player, Russell Westbrook. She enjoyed mentoring others to be better and to be more resilient in life. She was a strong woman and was not afraid to lend her ear or offer her advice. Most of all, she loved her family and celebrating Christmas with them.

Jan is survived by her son Bryan, his wife, Brenda, and their son Connor; her daughter Tracy, her husband, Colby, and their children, Jordan and Jaden, all of Oklahoma City; her sister, Margaret Evirs of Huntsville, TX, sister-in-law, Shirley Ketcham of Belton, TX, and her many nieces and nephews around the country.

Services to be held at 3:30pm on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Villagio of Oklahoma City, 14300 N. Portland Ave., Oklahoma City, OK.

A very special thanks to the staffs of Humanity Hospice and Villagio of Oklahoma City. They took great care and pride in making Jan’s last days as comfortable as possible and lessened the stress of her family.
