Herman Dee Foust, age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 9, 2026.
Born on March 22, 1940, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, to Cecil and Rena (Gillis) Foust, Herman moved with his family to Rocky, Oklahoma, in 1951. He attended school in Rocky and, on May 6, 1957, married the love of his life, Barbara Humphrey. They shared 55 wonderful years together until her passing in 2013.
A man of many talents, Herman was widely regarded as a master builder with exceptional skill in the home construction industry. Later in life, he answered a higher calling and was ordained to preach. He served faithfully as a pastor at the First Baptist Church of Canute and the Salem Baptist Church in Rocky. He spent several years selling cars for Gene Smith Chevrolet in Elk City, OK. He also served his community through his work with Washita County.
Herman had many friends and was well known as a great storyteller. He had an incredible memory and could always remember a joke to tell you. A friend that worked with him said everyday was funny with him and he could make the days seems like an adventure. His sense of humor was unmatched, and he could make you smile even when you didn’t feel like it.
Herman is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Kay Foust of Guthrie, Oklahoma; his brother, Earl Foust and wife Georgia Faye of Clinton, Oklahoma; his sister, Lola Hart and husband Don of Rocky, Oklahoma; his four children, Julie (Kent) Maddox of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Pam (Doug) Giblet of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Scott (Verna) Foust of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Josh (Wendi) Foust of Guthrie, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Rena Foust; his first wife, Barbara Foust; and his brothers, Venoy, Sydney, and David Foust.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 1, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, located at 601 Main St., Arapaho, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Lone Star Cemetery in Rocky, OK.
