Gary L Kelley

June 5, 1947 — May 23, 2025

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Gary L. Kelley passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Choctaw, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, on June 5, 1947, Gary lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his country, and simple joys.

He proudly served in the United States Army for over 20 years with honor and distinction, dedicating himself to his country with the same commitment he showed his family. In his free time, Gary found great joy in tending to his garden, a peaceful place where he nurtured life and found calm.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Heather Gauntt, and her husband, Darell Gauntt; his grandchildren, Kelley and Alexander Gauntt; his son, Kevin Kelley; and his brothers, Charles and Michael Kelley. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert and Amanda Kelley, and his beloved wife, Mary Kelley, to whom he remained devoted even in death.

Gary often spoke fondly of his time with his son in the Boy Scouts of America, recalling those moments as some of his most treasured memories. He eagerly looked forward to his granddaughter achieving her Eagle Scout rank and loved listening to his grandson play the clarinet. In his final days, he expressed to his daughter how proud he was of the wonderful young adults his grandchildren had become under her care and guidance.

Gary’s favorite quote, which reflected his outlook on life, was from Roy T. Bennett:   "Don’t waste your time in anger, regrets, worries, and grudges. Life is too short to be unhappy."

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and forever remembered for his kindness, love, and wisdom.
