Gabriel Pietro Giovanni Bernay of Guthrie, Oklahoma. June 6, 1974 – May 9, 2015
Gabriel was bornJune 6, 1974 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John Camp Bernay II and Effie Edith (Martinez) Padilla, and has siblings: John Camp Bernay III; Johnnie Mae Bernay Sanchez; Arden John Bernay, Sonya Maria Bernay Languis, Josefina Antionette Bernay Carrillo, and Joshua Luv Martin.
Gabriel attended Mulhall-Orlando and Guymon Public Schools and worked as a carpenter and framer. He was an artist and was recognized by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for his artwork. He was also a tattoo artist and his work is displayed on many. Gabe resided in Oklahoma all his life and enjoyed music, playing his guitar and singing. Gabe gave his life to the Lord and was eager to share his experience with anyone. He wanted everyone to know what he had found in Christ. Gabriel was loved by many and will be missed darting in and out of our lives.
He is survived by two sons: Giovanni Camp Bernay and Gabriel Pietro Gavino Bernay of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kari McBride of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Mother: Effie and husband Antonio Padilla of Jones, Oklahoma, Siblings: John Camp Bernay III of California; Johnnie Mae Bernay Sanchez and fiancé Robert Foos of Jones, Oklahoma; Sonya Maria Bernay Languis and James Nisbett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Josefina Antionette Bernay Carrillo of Henderson, Texas, Joshua Luv Martin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Gabriel touched many lives during his life; many called him brother and uncle.
He was predeceased in death by: Father; John Camp Bernay II and brother Arden John Bernay, and Grandparents: John Camp and Nedra Bernay; Pedro and Rose (Gallegos) Martinez
A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM Saturday May 16, 2015 at Jones United Methodist Church,106 W. Cherokee, Jones Oklahoma. 73049, Rev. Robert Foos; Pastor, 405-509-4296
A meal will follow the service.

My heart goes out to the family during this difficult time. I remember growing up with Gabe and Johnnie Mae and they are great people. They was like family to me and we always hung around together. Our sons Gio & Gavino and I already miss him dearly, and they already have so many questions that I don’t know how to answer. I know I’ve lost my best friend of almost 15 years, and it’s so hard to believe. I am so blessed to have the great memories he left behind, but I know that one day we will meet again, and our family will once again be whole. Until then he will live on through his two precious boys, and will forever be in all of our hearts.

One thing i will always remember is how much he loved his 2 boys, they was his life, he was a great father to them. He will always be remembered for many great things he has done in his life. I knew him before i met him by so many amazing stories i was told and i was blessed to have been given the chance to meet him before his passing. I am so grateful we made up our differences before you had to go and you came to me for one last session with your “Southside shrink”. I miss you dearly, us fighting, us acting like we didn’t have any sense in the middle of Wal-Mart, us driving around in that hot car with you last summer, and of course us talking about deep stuff! Gabe…how you would be so proud to know that you played an important role in everybody’s lives…since you been gone the whole world has fallen apart and I find myself thinking numerous times a day, This wouldn’t be happening if my brother were still alive! Kind of crazy that we don’t realize how important people are in our lives until suddenly they aren’t. I miss you. And wish I could wake up from this crazy nightmare.
