Donna Jean Baker

Donna Jean Baker 8/16/25 – 3/28/23

Donna Jean Baker passed from this life on 3/28/23 at the amazing age of 97 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with her daughter by her side.  She was the daughter of Jesse Earl Scott and Martha Rosella Watson, and was originally from Memphis, Tennessee, born on 8/16/25.

Donna worked at the Payne County Court House in Stillwater Oklahoma as a Court Clerk and retired in the late 80’s.  While working there she was introduced to her husband and love John Coleman (JC) Baker by his daughter Sondi, and they later married on December 23, 1987, until his death on 3/1/94.  She lived a full life! In her early years she grew up in Memphis TN with her sister Mary Katherine and brother Bub who she loved dearly.  She married John Lemueil (Lem) Cunningham, and they had two sons, Alan and Jerry.  Lem was in the military, so they moved to many different places over the years, lastly to Lawton Oklahoma.  They divorced and she later met Jack Willingham from Warren Oklahoma.  Jack and Donna got married, adopted his granddaughter Susan, who was born to his daughter Deborah, and moved to Fort Cobb Lake.  Jack passed away in 1974 and eventually she and Susan moved to Stillwater. Once she met and married JC, they moved to his hometown of Billings Oklahoma.  Donna absolutely loved it there!  A few of her favorite things were reading books (she loved to read), shopping, her beloved dogs (Candi, Pugsley, and Libby), having coffee on her back porch with Susan, and walking three miles a day with her best friend Andrea.  In 2013 Alzheimer’s set in and she moved to Oklahoma City where her daughter could be closer to her.  She was so funny, and though this disease is horrible, it did seem to bring out an uninhibited side to her that was hysterical and charming.  Everyone at Sommerset Assisted Living and Frontier Hospice absolutely loved her and gave her amazing care!  A special thanks to her Hospice Nurse, Jessica Plunk, who always went above and beyond for Donna and her daughter Susan.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Earl Scott and Martha Rosella Watson, husband JC Baker, sister Mary Katherine Branch and her husband Croswell (OC), brother Jesse Earl (Bub) Scott and his wife Blanche, husband Jack Willingham, stepdaughter Deborah Willingham Jones, and her best friend Andrea McCluskey.

She is survived by her son Alan Cunningham and wife Sermseri, son Jerry Cunningham and wife Loraine, daughter Susan Rowland and husband Rusty, stepson Ronnie Willingham and wife Sheryl, stepson John Baker and wife Janet, stepdaughter Sondi Sikes and husband Don, stepson Bill Baker and wife Gail, her granddaughter Amy Cunningham, granddaughter Julia Torres and husband Justin, granddaughter Tracy Hiatt and husband Joel, granddaughter Abbie Cunningham, grandson Sam Cunningham, several step grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Candace Braddock, Josie Fannin, Amy Spinelli, Angie Hughes, Zach Sikes, Skyler Sikes, Conner Sikes, Brian Baker, Allison Carroll, and her many great-grandchildren, Sydney and Camille Campbell, Jaye Torres, Jaxon, Jamie and Joon Hiatt, Kelly, Ian and Merrick Paul, and Triniann, Brooklyn and Braedyn Cunningham.

To know her was to love her and she will be deeply missed!  A Memorial Service will be held on April 15th at 1pm at her daughter’s home in Newcastle, Oklahoma.
