Clyde was born in Davis City, Iowa to John & Velma Coulthard (Straight) on Aug. 22, 1941. In 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He retied at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. After retirement from the Navy, Clyde became a production tool maker.
