Charles C. Sapp, 60, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on August 1, 2026. Born in Oklahoma City to Charles and Janice Sapp, he was a devoted husband, loving father, extraordinary grandfather, and steadfast friend.

A skilled heavy equipment operator and professional truck driver, Charles built a successful career as an independent owner-operator. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1994, including assignments with the 46th Chemical Company, 2nd Chemical Battalion, at Fort Hood, Texas; the 84th Engineer Company (2nd ACR) at Röhrensee Kaserne in Bayreuth, Germany; and the 586th Engineer Company at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A veteran of Operation Desert Storm and the conflict in Somalia, his service will be forever honored.

Charles found his greatest joy in family, especially as a doting grandfather. He loved OU football, time with close friends, and sunny days boating at the lake. Known for his infectious warmth and kindness, he turned strangers into lifelong friends and brightened days with his daily phone calls.

He publicly professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Crossings Community Church on November 16, 2025. He enjoyed Sunday services—and coffee beforehand—and, when on the road, watched the live stream.

Charles is survived by his wife, Helen; his father, Charles W. Sapp; his children, Brandon Sapp, Jessica Daugherty, and Justin Sapp; his stepson, Rick Traver; his grandchildren, Rylynn Baker, Phillip Sapp, Abby Sapp, and Alette Daugherty; his brother, Jimmy Sapp; his sisters, Penny Queen and Brenda Sapp; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Nichols.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 18 at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N. Portland Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73134, with refreshments to follow. Military honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on August 19 at Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery, 1555 Myall Street, Ardmore, OK 73401.
