Carmen Jones

Carmen I. Jones passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by her devoted family.  Born on March 15, 1959, she was 62 years of age.  Carmen was born in New York City to Ana L. Colón and Carmelo Garay.  She graduated Hunter College in New York City and worked as a registered nurse.  She married her husband, William V. Jones, Sr. on June 27, 1987 and they had over 34 loving years together. 

Carmen was a warm and caring mother to her children Yasmine, William Jr., Jennifer, and Jonathan.  To know her was to love her.  To know her was to know one of the greatest people God put on this Earth.  Carmen was a true example of what it meant to be patient, loving, and kind.  She loved unconditionally and was the embodiment of what it means to be beautiful both inside and out.

She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren.  Her mother, sister, nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members also survive her.  She will be remembered and missed by all.

A  Private Family Viewing was held on November 29, 2021.

A Memorial Service was held on December 8, 2021 at Sunny Lane Family Church.

What an amazing person God gave us and now that he has called her home, we are grateful for the love and memories we shared and we will carry her with us in our hearts always.

May she rest in the peace of God’s eternal light.
