Brenda Faye (Crawford) Hornbeak was born to Rufus C. Crawford, Sr. & LaVerne A. (Kennedy) Crawford on Jan 8, 1943. Brenda and was the last of three children born to this union which included her brother, Rufus Calvin Crawford, Jr. (deceased) and her sister, Gwendolyn Claudette (Crawford) Washington. She attended Dunbar Elementary School from kindergarten through the sixth grade.
She attended F. D. Moon Junior High School in the seventh and eighth grades. Brenda attended Douglass High School and graduated in 1961. She later attended Oklahoma City University and graduated in accounting. She attended Greater Zion Baptist Church and was employed at Tinker Air Force Base (1961-1965) as a stenographer. Brenda joined the Internal Revenue Service where she worked as an Internal Revenue Agent and retired on disability. She also worked at Red Rock Mental Health Center as Head Accountant in 1980. She later worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Oklahoma State Health Department for 5 years.
She leaves to mourn: two children; Leslie Benjamin Hornbeak (son), Dianne Cherie Hornbeak (daughter), one granddaughter Cherie Latia Hornbeak, and two great grandchildren Payton Zion Chanel Hulitt and Christian Montrell Watkins; Gwendolyn Washington (sister); Claudette Crawford (sister-in-law) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
