Blake Arron Prater was born in Norton, Kansas on January 7, 1952 to Ralph and Leah Prater. He passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 18, 2015 after suffering a stroke 2 weeks prior. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in Brawley, California.
Blake enjoyed working on classic cars and was as happy under the hood as behind the wheel. He loved to work with wood and enjoyed being on the water. He wore many hats over the years, but was happiest when figuring out complex problems or designing detailed business plans.
Blake is survived by his children Chad Prater, Aimee Knapp, Brooke Walley, and Colton Prater, his parents Ralph and Leah Prater, his sisters Rebecca Prater and Barbara Galyean, and his brother Brock Prater. He left behind a strong legacy with six grandchildren including Amanda Burns, Logan Prater, Corey Walley, Ryan Walley, Ashley Prater, and Jenny Prater. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and first wife Marsha.
A private celebration of Blake’s life will be held Friday, October 23 from 4pm to 9pm at his granddaughter Amanda’s house. Please contact the family for an invite if you would like to attend.
