Betty Jo Blackwell-Crossley
July 18, 1951 – December 18, 2015
Betty Jo Blackwell-Crossley, a longtime resident of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Dec. 18, 2015, at the age of 64, after a long battle with vascular dementia. Betty was born in Crosbyton, Texas to Alma Blackwell Carter and Willis Blackwell on July 18, 1951. She was known for her contagious smile, vibrant laugh, and always being full of life. She was a hard worker in the oilfield, always willing to prove that she could sell oilfield equipment just as well as any man. She loved to play golf and just being around her friends and family. In 2008, her disease advanced and she was no longer able to live alone; therefore, went to live with her daughter and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rita Lofton. Her survivors include one daughter, Michelle Crossley Turner and husband Chris; two grandchildren, Rylee and Zachary Turner all of Edmond, Oklahoma; a brother, Gale Blackwell and wife Gloria of Clovis, New Mexico; two nieces, Lori Brattain and husband Chris of Lovington, New Mexico and Mindy Stine and husband Jason of Denver City, Texas, and a nephew, Dewayne”Troy” Young of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by many of her very close friends. She was cremated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 21, 2015.
We will celebrate her life with a memorial at Calvary Memorial Funeral Home in Hobbs, New Mexico on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a tribute has been established with the Alzheimer’s Organization. Donations may be made to www.alz.org in Betty Crossley’s name or to your favorite charity.
