Alton Delano "Skip" Rowland, 77, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, passed away on August 11, 2025, in Oklahoma City. Born on January 3, 1948, in Oklahoma City to Alton Rowland Sr. and Mildred Rowland, Skip grew up with a love for cars, community, and adventure. He graduated from U.S. Grant High School and, in 1966, married Karen (McKean) Rowland. They shared 33 years of marriage, raising their family and creating countless memories.
Skip owned and operated Coachwork & Custom Interiors for more than 50 years, earning a reputation across Oklahoma and beyond for his craftsmanship on street rods and classic cars. His work was as unique as his personality, leaving a lasting mark on the automotive community. A man with a need for speed and a love for fun, Skip enjoyed drag racing, boat racing, car shows across the country, and weekends at the lake with friends. He and Karen were longtime members of the Oklahoma City Corvette Club.
One of Skip's legendary stories came in 1968, when he went out to buy a family station wagon-returning instead with a brand-new 1968 Corvette, despite having three young children at home. He also cherished family trips to Colorado for annual snow-skiing adventures.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Rowland; and his son, Jay Rowland.
He is survived by his former wife, Karen Rowland; children, Lance Rowland (Carol) of Oklahoma City, Tiffany Millerborg (Jim) of Piedmont, and Stephanie Rowland (Jere) of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Josh Rowland (Ashley) of Edmond, Hadley Rowland of Oklahoma City, Zach Rowland of Elk City, Radek Rowland (Sarah) of Elk City, Lex Rowland of Elk City, Kylie Aelker (Jake) of Raymore, Missouri, Brant Millerborg (McKenna) of Mission, Kansas, Ellie Millerborg of Piedmont, Page Helms of Oklahoma City, and Will Mercer of Oklahoma City; and great-grandchildren, Easton and Ella Rowland, Maverick Rowland, and Annie Mae Aelker.
